The Monroe County Sheriff’s office is investigating vandalism that damaged a veterans monument in Fairport. Authorities say sometime between Sunday and Wednesday, the bronze memorial sculpture at the VFW Post 8495 on Macedon Center Road was vandalized. The sculpture -- which depicts empty combat boots with an inverted rifle planted upright between them -- had the rifle portion broken off and stolen.
