City Council Approves Development Projects

The Rochester City Council has given a green light to two development projects. The Council voted to sell two parcels from the filled-in east side Inner Loop to developers and the Strong Museum of Play. Plans call for an expansion at the museum and construction of a parking garage, shops, a hotel with a water park and 250 apartments. The Council also voted to demolish the long-vacant Psychiatric Center tower on Elmwood Avenue. Developers want to replace it with office and retail space, apartments and townhouses and a four-story hotel.
