The First Niagara - Rochester Fringe Festival has canceled Saturday afternoon's scheduled performance by Bandaloop because of the weather.
The same goes for the Family Fun Day events at Manhattan Square Park that were scheduled to start at 3:00 p.m.
Festival Producers met at noon to evaluate the rain situation, and determined it was too heavy for the 4:00 p.m. performance to take place. Spokeswoman Sally Cohen said the free Bandaloop performance was the centerpiece of the family event, so there's no point in going on without it. She points out there are still 65 indoor Fringe Festival performances planned for this weekend.
Bandaloop performs a unique mix of dance and rock climbing on walls high above the street. Their performance Friday night on the side of the HSBC Building downtown was viewed by as many as 18,000 people.
