Rochester, NY -- Rochester Business Alliance President and CEO Sandy Parker is weighing in on Valeant Pharmaceutical's plan to move Bausch & Lomb's corporate headquarters to New Jersey once its acquisition is complete.
Parker concedes the move and the corresponding loss of jobs will have a significant impact on the region. But Parker says it is encouraging that contact lens
manufacturing is slated to remain on Rochester. And Parker says Rochester is a resilient economy and will get through the loss.
"Resilient" is also the word stressed by Rochester Mayor Tom Richards in his comments. He says it remains unclear how many Bausch jobs will be lost in Rochester -- but he says Rochester is a resilient community, and he hopes any displaced workers will be absorbed by other area businesses.
