Avon Police Chief Resigns

former Avon Police Chief Joseph Geer

The police chief in Avon has resigned amid an investigation into financial record-keeping in his department.

Chief Joseph Geer was previously suspended without pay, and his resignation takes effect later this week.

Village Mayor Robert Hayes announced the resignation last night and says the village will be reviewing potential candidates to replace Geer.

Officer Tim Ferrara will remain the interim head of the police department.

The FBI investigation involves Geer's service as a school resource officer in the Avon Central schools.
